Theory exams ahead for aspiring drivers

Aspirants of driving licences in Qatar will have to pass a theory examination based on a text released by the Traffic Department before they are allowed to take the road test.

My Opinion and suggestion
Its a very good initiative by the Trafic General to introduce a theoretical test which will give drivers the importance of air bag protection, safety of children in the vehicles, driving in different conditions like rain, fog and wind and driving at night and the risks involved in using mobile phones and other things that distract the driver.

It also gives the importance of wearing seat belt.- I suggest the Traffic Department authorities to make it mandatory to wear seatbelts for the rear passengers also which will decrease the number of fatalities in times of accidents. Wearing a seat belt can reduce the severity of injuries when sitting in rear seats. The major cause of car occupant fatalities in car accidents is head injuries when they collide with the car seat or dashboard.. Many parts of the world mostly developed countries comply with this requirement and the result is lesser fatalities.

Public should be educated about the need to wear seat belts in front seats as well as rear. If a person does not wear his or her seat belt during a crash, that particular person could be thrown from his or her vehicle; through the windshield or door into poles, or run over by your own or someone else’s car.

I do understand that the above information is disturbing to read and even imagine but this is the ugly truth!!!
Just because the law doesnt ask to wear the seatbelts for rear seats, no one wears it....
Request the authorities to show videos of crashes with seatbelts and without it.... not everyone has the information until something similar happens to him/her.

Actually I was surprised that Qataris drive very well, fast but nonetheless accurately .

The problem is not with the locals, it is with the morons that drive at 40-50km/h in THE FAST AND MIDDLE LANE!

They are the ones that causes accidents!

So learn to drive instead of blaming people.

totaly dis-agree.. coz what will those ppl do who dont even know how to write and what about those who only know there own languages...

and instead of making tough for expats they need to take some action against locals coz in every second accident local is involved....

Why don't they deal with the crazy Qatari drivers on the road first before introducing this.

That would help morons and road racers out off the street.

i totally agree with this move by the muroor. this will eliminate aspiring drivers that cannot read. they only memorize the signs during the actual exams and immediately forget about it after.

i hope that this will be strictly enforced.
