I went last friday to City Center to watch the new James Bond film. I was shocked at how many babies were being taken into the theatre!!!!!!!!!!! The film was a late show and i went there to watch a film and not to hear several babies crying through the film. I could have stayed at home for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I mentioned to the cinema usher about all the babies being allowed in to cry through the film he just shrugged his shoulders and said what can i do?????

Personally i think that babies shouldnt be allowed into a movie theatre regardless of the film being shown. I think that once a toddler can sit in his seat or on the lap of an adult they should be allowed in to watch age appropriate films. They should also be taken out if they start to become a nuisance to other viewers.

But hey this is Qatar and no one seems to care about anybody but themselves at the movies!!!!

well, unfortunately, you don't have a lot of choice in rearranging your seat...once you have picked the seats, you are stuck...no matter who comes along...but i do think that it is fair to make generalizations...in many places, it is common courtesy not to move around alot or make noises (talk, answer cell phones, etc.) during a film. Doha isn't generally one of these places. It can take a bit of getting used to...regardless of who is at fault. Also, regarding the American kicking your seat, I bet it was me! I was yelled at once by a lady in front of me and my daughter because we were 'kicking her seat'. Actually, we were not purposely kicking her seat----we are tall people and didn't have very much foot room. Instead of politely requesting, she just started yelling. Personally, I was quite offended. I would have appreciated her input if it had been expressed properly. Instead, I didn't have very much incentive to honor her request. But then again, I think that it is necessary to give people many excuses for their behavior as was the example of the Prophet (SAW)...maybe she was having a bad day and the 'kicking' episode was just the last straw.

No age limit but there's a sign before the movie starts to "take crying children to the lobby" ie. as long as your kids don't disturb other people's enjoyment of the movie, it's AOK.

I went to see Quantum of Solace in Royal Plaza two weeks ago, and there were 5-6 year olds with their nannies in there. So no, I don't think it's a problem. People don't seem to mind about ratings, if there are any in Qatar at all... :p

Go take your family to the movies and enjoy together! :)

I want to mention though...I'm surprised by everyone's complaints about the noise/distraction level in cinemas here. In my experience the audiences have been fine. The only unforgivable distraction is ringing mobiles--but so far that's the worst of it.

Or maybe I'm just lucky! :)

Tya, at 10 my son was a horror movie enthusiast... and still is. Sometimes it depends on the kids but I think parents need to know their kids and know what is suitable for them.

I love people get on me about my son watching horror movies then go out and buy their own kids 50cent CD's and Grand Theft Auto video games. My kids know there is no such thing as a vampire. Most horror movies are silly and in no way imitate life..

... and that Is why I have an 84inch screen and surround sound at home. I'd rather wait for the DVD and watch it without interuption.

I also watched Quantum, but it was Arabic guys talking out loud on their mobile. They kept on saying "Aywa" very loud as if they own the cinema

I didn't enjoy the movie, and the effects were tiring too

No, they kept talking about Torrono and their forthcoming holidays..

Perhaps I should have just said "Teenagers".. No offence to any Canadians intended..

I think it depends on the film and its rating..

Since we are talking cinemas, I went to see Quantum of Solace last wekeend.

Sitting there reminded me of the "discussion we had about Qataris and cinemas". Well, my experience was different.

There was a bunch of Canadian teenagers, who talked and used mobiles all though the film.. Spoilt the whole experience.

Sorry.. Had to get that off the chest..
