Books
Hello Ppl.....
I wonder if Doha has any library? what do ppl in Doha do if u dont really wanna spnd a huge amount on buying books (fiction n non fiction)......I'm hoping to be there in Doha within the next two months and wondering if I wud still be able to indulge myself with regards to my passion for reading.
Also wondering about which school wud be a better option for my 7yr old, Birla or MES....Is it true that MEs has a completely South Indian staff and so my kid wud actually end up speaking with a "malayali" accent? Is Birla any better than Mes...at least with regards to the language.
No intentional disrespect meant to anyone here,I'm just a worried mom wanting to give my child the best !!
Hope I do get some answers.....any clarification wud be highly appreciated!
Thnx
There is the Georgetown library which have a wide selection of books and you can suggest ones that are not there. It's in Qatar Foundation
You can check http://www.qatarusedbooks.wordpress.com. They advertise your used books on the website, or you can simply donate it. They just opened a facebook page http://www.facebook.com/UsedBookStoreQatar in which there going to be a community of people interested in book swapping, opening a book club etc.
No libraries here. But there is a Jarir bookstore (near Ramada Junction) where you can sit down at a table and do some light reading. Good luck.
Qatar is not very big on reading so "real" bookstores are rare and libraries even more so. There is one good library in Education City but there is a membership fee and there are some limitations. My suggestion would be to invest in a Kindle but keep in mind there might be some limitations on downloading books from Amazon due to censorship (think it depends on the billing address of your credit card).
as for schools...
