Here’s a note from a SON. I’m 32, was born in Doha with asthma and eczema, grew out of it at some point. I then left to Canada at 18 for 12 years and never had any breathing or skin related issues. I’ve now been back for 2 years and asthma has kicked back in, ontop of that eczema in the last few weeks. I think the problem lies in the hardness of the water in Doha. This prevents soaps from working and instead leaves a layer of irritation on skin. The same also applies to washing clothes in hard water. Without water softeners , not all detergent can be used. I’m going to see a dermatologist now, and will try to find water softeners to be used with laundry. Ultimately I might as well install a water softening filtration system at home

I have the same problem with my son. it started when he was 2weeks old. the doctor gave so many medications on which we are spending a lot. my mother advise to bath him water with lemon and tea. and it worked for a while. then it came back again. it became occasional. but I noticed that when we go for vacation in Alex when he was about 1 month and stayed there for 6weeks, its gone. when we came back to doha again the allergy attacked my son. when we went for vacation in the Philippines and stayed again for another 6weeks, he became fine again. now that we are back to doha, it became worst. i had to bring him to the doctor and he said it is SWEAT RASH. and give shampoo and lotion as medication but didnt work as well. i realized that since he is getting the rashes from sweating, he should avoid hot temperature. i put all the AC in the house in its max and it gave my son good sleep and little by little the rash is going.

My daughter had the same problem when she was a baby. We used Sebamed for all (soap, baby shampoo, cream). I also used the special detergent super sensitive for babies without fragrance) to wash all her clothes, blanket, sheets (all connected with her skin). Change the diet of your food if you are still breastfeeding (our pediat found out that our daughter allergy to strawberries and its kind). Wish you good luck with the allergy test.

My daughter has terrible eczema, and it sounds like that is what your poor daughter has. Here's what the dermatologist told me:

(1) If you can get your hands on it order some Cetaphil cleansing lotion from the U.S. - AND some Cetaphil creme (not the liquid lotion). Use the cleansing lotion for baths and put the creme on as frequently as possible.

(2) Steriod creams prescribed by the docs will provide only temporary relief, if at all.

(3) Stop using fabric softer as it is FULL of chemicals, dyes and fragrances that aggravate eczema.

(4) Stop using scented laundry detergent for your baby's clothes. The stuff marketed to babies is actually the worst stuff for bubs with sensitive skin. Carrefour occasionally sells their own brand of scent/dye-free powder but I haven't seen it in months. You can also find Tide Free occasionally at Megamart and Lulu. It's pricey (QR75 per box) but if you only use it on your baby's clothes then it will last a good while.

Definitely take her to the dermatologist, as nomerci suggested.

Good luck - I hope she feels better soon!

Please show your baby to a very good pediatrician /dermatologist and you must take serious care of your food as you still breastfeed.

I think you need to see a pediatrician /dermatologist. Maybe your baby has eczema or dermatitis.

We have the same scenario when my baby was on his younger age too, he got this itching thing in his body, even at the early age he knew how to scratch his body due to the itcheness. My auntie who is a doctor suggested me to try using this milk soap, dilute with water but be sure to shake it before you use it until it bubbles. I was relief, it was slowly vanished little by little. I found it available in Pilipino Store here in Doha in AL Sadd, try maybe it helps in any way.

As they said, Consult the doctor for any symptoms persist, better to visit for check-up

Good luck, doctor knows best but mother knows what is the best for her baby..

I used to apply Johnsons baby bath for my baby for 2 years as AngelinaBallerina suggested you, but your baby has a over sensitive skin, so ask the doctor to recommend a good and suitable medicated baby bath for her.

It must be so hard to know that your baby is feeling discomfort and is unable to sleep because of it...my friend's baby had very dry skin and she made her "coconut cream" from scratch. You can google how to do it. Her baby's skin was glowing from the natural moisture and was very happy. I find "Cabbage's" advice quite helpful; specially where she says to keep to breast milk for now. All the best for your little one*

I would stop using soap for the time being - soap can dry the skin out.

Have you seen Oilatum products? They have them in Boots the Chemist in Villagio and Landmark. They are excellent products for babies with; 'allergies' or eczema.

I would keep to breast milk for now. Use only cotton clothes – keep your child cool – over heating can make it worse.

My daughter had awful eczema as child and I used this range of products – changed her diet and she did improve. She is now free off it – thank god.

Good luck and I hope this helps x

A baby's skin is very sensitive, don't use soap.. better to use a mild baby bath.. I have used Lactacyd for my baby during her early months.. best you consult a doctor about it..
