I would like to hear from teachers (past and present) who have taught at this school. I am in the UK and have been offered a job there, but have read many different opinions about the school.
I have not worked at this school but I am a Primary school teacher in Qatar and have been here for nearly 10 years (Im also from the UK). From talking to many teachers here, it tends to get the worst reports from any of the schools for the way in which it treats the staff. (Perhaps Al Jazeera Academy gets about the same as well)
Im sure you will find committed staff there and the facilites seem reasonable (we have been there a few times). The last I heard about the administration was very poor and although that was last year, I havent heard anything positive since.
That said, there are many schools in Doha that have similar problems. I think it goes without saying that you should not come expecting a UK style employment and many of the administrations in schools have found it hard to adapt to the expectations of staff as they have employed increasingly more experience staff from around the world. There are many benefits - great working hours, tax free salary, very nice kids and parents generally, safe environment, - but there can also be many things that people find hard to put up with.
Schools that seem OK to work for IMO
1. Doha English Speaking School
2. Qatar Academy
3. Gulf English School
4. Qatar International School
5. Park House
6. Doha College Primary
I havent put these in any particular order and dont get me wrong, these have their fair share of problems, and Im sure some staff who have worked for these schools have had difficulties. But these are some of the schools that have been around the longest and have improved their administrations to deal with staff (not telling which one I work for :) ) Im sure if you want to look at other options and see what other schools are offering in Doha as a comparison, these would be the best to contact.
