Families living in Education City

Salaam,
Any Muslim families with young children living in Education City? My family and I are planning on moving there this summer and I would like to start making some connections with other families there. I'm also interested in hearing from anyone with a young family living in Education City. Is the recreation center open yet? Do they have classes for kids? (swimming, tennis, etc.) Anyone have connections to good Quran teachers for young kids. I look forward to hearing from someone.
Thanks
wa salaam

Assalamu Alykum Sr.Bilqis,

I'm also new to Qatar, and I'd love to contact you. I'm also looking for Quran classes for my kids. I'm still looking for schools right now, if you know of good islamic schools please share with me. Jazakilahu khayran

Yes. I live in Education City housing compound and the rec center is not open here yet. The pool, club house and daycare are not open. In "Education City" they have a rec center but it is also for students of education city, not just the residents in the compound. Only the students live in education city, the workers/employees live outside of Education City, in the ECCH Compound or elsewhere because the housing in the ECCH Compound has a wait list.

To Answer the original poster, the compound has many, many, nationalities and religions.

I am a bit confused...There seems to be some conflicting information on this site. The first response says that there is everything there. Yet I have spoken to other members of this site that say there isn't. That there is no swimming pool etc...Can someone who actually lives there please respond and let me know what facilities are actually there for the employees and their families to use. My family and I are also moving there in the summer and are very interested to know what facilities they have as we have 2 young children.

thank you

jen.

Thanks Snessy.

I can give one example of mine. Yesterday, I was smiling over funny situation in my office, there was one of our colleagues speaking Arabic on phone, two were discussing in Filipino, two were conversing in Malayalum, two were speaking English and three were Urdu.... OMG!! 5 languages in one room.... WOW!!! I love my workplace....

It is the charm of Qatar....

The art of living is in fine mingling in different cultures, religions and races.you and your kids are so lucky to have all sort of religions and groups while you are in a Islamic country.Enjoy it.Make a big circle and learn through it.

Walaikum Assalam,

Where are you coming from, may I ask?

I am planning on moving to Qatar soon too, but not with family as yet...waiting for my 3 months probation period to be over.

I still don't know of any good areas. What's this Education City like? And what has made you look in that area?

Hope to hear more.

Wassalam.

Very well said najamss, if only everyone realised how vital it is for us and more importantly our children to learn from people from different parts of the world. It's a great country to broaden your horizons :-)

First of all I would like to suggest you that do not look for Muslim families only. You are going to live in that country where you will find people of different religions, cultures, countries who speak different languages as well.

It is the golden moment to live with them. You and your children will learn a lot among them.

You will find everything over here, Islamic education, swimming classes, young children, tennis, basketball, etc, etc.....

Best of luck!!!
