I am an Indian from rajasthan coming to doha for the first time with family ( wife and two kids). lot of anxiety regarding family life; schooling; socialsing; commuting etc. would appreciate guidance on following :

1. what are the good indian schools from study and overall personalitiy development perspective. can i take admission in such schools while being here.

2. my housing allowance is about 11500 qr. can i get 2 bhk accomodation in good compound with swimming pool and gym in compound. where indians normally prefer to stay

3. what are the recreation means for family.

4. my elder son is in 9th class. how is the higher education there, say after 10th. i heard that indians normally prefer to send there families back home for better education. is it true.

many thanks in advance for your guidance

heloo brother,

The school MES and Birla are good. both of them are diifelrent standards. but i suggest u mes only.

bcoz ur children were in India before.

so mes will be comparitively easier for them.

For accomodation..

if two bed sitting n dining two bathroom and kitchen with fully furnished flat will ok for u, den Ezdan compound is the best choice for u. der is swimming pool, gym, basket ball, billiards and table tennis, aslo kids palying centre, supermarket etc ..

u may find indian and all nationalities over der...

for license if u hav transport Karwa is better.

Hi! I know this is a 2008 stream, but since I am moving to Qatar next month and my son will be in 7th std, was curious to know how buddyindian found schooling there. Are you continuing your child's education there and if so, how good is it?

You will find many places in Doha. Better to come here and experience it.

If you are driving in India then you may not find that difficult to clear your driving test. It is totally depanding upon your luck and how fast you learn. Once you join here lots of people will give you quick tips. Better to train yourself first with left hand drive and high speed traffic. It is true that Doha is not having very efficient public transportation system but people are finding their own ways.

1. Please don't compare schools here with Indian School. There are good schools but do not expect too much from it.

Birla Public School and Delhi Public School are most popular Indian schools.

2. Your Housing allowance will help you to find nice furnished 2 BHK apartment in Doha (starting from 7500 to 9500). May find compound with GYM but don't dream of swimming pool. You will find Indians every where. I would advise you to choose compound with 3-4 towers so that your family will find good company.

3. There are clubs for recreation in Doha but most are very expensive (annual membership will start from 15000 QAR). You may find this place little boring initially but if you are lucky enough to find good company you will enjoy this place. You will find some good Indian restaurants. 2-3 Malls with multi movie screen facilities.

4. You are correct many families prefer to send their families back to India for better higher education. Other QL members may advise you better in this regard as my kid is studying in 2nd Std.

For more information please use search facility on top right corner. I am sure you will find all information.

I am happy Rajestan Royals won the IPL. They were my team right from the start as they were the underdogs :)

There are not many clubs with such facilities. You can be a member of Ramada and use there facilities. Frankly I don't know much about Family recreation as I don't have children yet ;(
