I second mandi on this. If you are employing a person full time you need to be the person's sponsor. If the person in a "run-away" made or in the country illegally, you could theoretically face criminal prosecution and a massive fine (40,000 plus). I know of at least a couple of Western families who were hit will the fines.

Is there a way to get a maid that doesn't live in legally?

Well, if someone works for you full time you are legally expected to sponsor them.
Mandi
got it thank you.
But what about 8 hrs per day 5 days a week ? No room, no food, no clothes, no trip back home ?
ROFL. 700-1000 for salary and room, food, clothing and a trip home every two years. Fridays (or other day of your choice) off.
Anything above that is at your discretion. I would advise adding more unless as incentive for good service.
Make clear the terms in the contract.
Anything above 2000QAR is reasonable
Thank you simplecomplex .
It depends on the maid's nationality and it also depends on the employer's nationality. Since you asked the average, I think it would be 1500 QR.
