You know what's funny. Unmarried men and women are not allowed to live together, but because Qatar does not recognise homosexuality, then they can live together freely.

And be discreet - there are lots of gay couples here, but under no circumstances should you share your sexual orientation with anyone. It only takes one vindictive neighbour or colleague to "complain" and you and your partner will be subject to some real problems (up to and including jail time and deportation).

Police will not search you out but they will act on complaints.

You'll be perfectly safe, however Qatar does not have 'gay partner' visas, only single and family. Your partner is going to have to come and go on a visit/tourist visa unless they find work here.
