It might not be as crowded as at home, but being within a German family, it is a very private thing, just like over there
:-(
Our first Xmas here, though. We already got the Secret Santa *thanks Siscabell! so I do not mind if it is not EXACTLY as back home. The most important thing is what it means to you, not exchange of presents, but the birth of one of the more wonderful human beings that for some of us is also God. Whatever you believe, the birth of Jesus changed history and even the Muslims highly respect this fact. Nowadays Xmas is more a comercial and material event but what really should prevail in your heart is the love to your neighbour and to be thankful for what life has given you. Merry Xmas!
how about spending a delicious homemade meal with your family then going out on the 25th of friday to donate some clothes to those needy people in doha..
If anyone can help us with ideas of how to spend the Christmas holiday it would be fantastic. We had intended to visit UK with my husband and visit my daughter but circumstances didn't allow. I feel Christmas will be a little odd with just my 12 year old and me. Any ideas would be fantastic! Thanks
I am coming to Doha early December.... i am wonder what to do at xmas/new year? I am hoping not to be sat alone! any one in the same boat!???? is there anyone looking for something to do? Is there a nice glam new year party?
If you haven't been to Doha before, you will have to be ready for some adjustments.
Since this is a Muslim country, Christmas is celebrated mostly in private. It is not a public holiday.
If you are a Catholic, there is a midnight mass here. Just check the schedule.
Private dinner party/gathering is how most Christians do it here. There are also some hotel/restaurants that schedule events during the day or the eve. The same goes for New Year.
Most locals and other muslims are very tolerant about Christians celebrating Christmas, some even join the New year celebrations. Just be well aware of the limits and keep your respect of the local culture.

yes! jayce has a group wherein they're singing in choral in some close friends or by invitation during christmas season....
Jayce, are you serious or just mocking me? If you are serious.... well, I love choirs... specially around christmas.
You can invite our choir to your home and we will be singing some Christmas carols.
Why don't you organize a QL Christmas & New Year party???????

Just celebrate these holidays like you would in your own country.
