The Indian embassy in Qatar will be closed on Monday in light of the upcoming Onam festival, which is a Hindu festival celebrated throughout Kerala, India.

Indians in Qatar number well over 500,000.

This is how one family celebrated Onam in Doha, a few years ago:

2. keralites are here in GCC from 1970's when no other nationality want to be here in the desert. of-course to work and feed their family. now every nationality want's to be here, bcoz GCC is a better place to live :) .keralites or other asian people know that they can't be here for ever, but are proud of what they have done for GCC. and let me tell you GCC nationals have great respect for them. may be next generation have diff perspective.

Yes, hopefully during this festive season they will learn to live in harmony and peace with others and keep their petty minded and back stabbing practices and selfish attitude to a minimum. The Gulf is a big enough place so that others can live and work in peace too besides the guys from Kerala

Onam is a festival celebrated by the people of Kerala. It is also the National Festival of Kerala with State holidays on 4 days starting from Onam Eve (Uthradom) to the fourth Onam Day. It is also a secular festival, celebrated by people of all religions and castes with the same zeal.

Keralians/Malayalees - The highest contributing community in entire GCC.

They have made life really comfortable around us, except to work with them in offices.
