International Schools in Doha

I just learnt that we are moving to Doha soon and I've been checking on different schools' websites. One of my kids will go to Year7 in the British system in September. The other one will be in Grade 10 of the American school.
Looked at the websites of Qatar Academy, American school. Both seem good. Am open to changing the childrens' schools to the American curriculum if that is of a good standard. Or having them both study with the British curriculum .
I'm also unclear about whether IB is an important option to consider in hight school. My kids will most proabably look towards the U.S. for university applications.
Any sugestions/advice about these (or any other) schools would be most welcome.

N.I.S. follows the English National Curriculum. There are two "branches" of N.I.S., one in the West Bay area and one on the D Ring Road. Unlike many other schools in Doha, there may actually be places available at N.I.S.

Regarding the choice between American or Brittish, wich one you prefer is depending on you backfround, your future and your preferenses. If your kids are most likely to turn to US for University maybee it is best to choose ASD.

You seems lucky because it is not easy to be a newcommer and get your kids in these schools. That is nice and makes of course life very much easier.

One thing I would consider in you case, you will have your kids in these 2 different schools. They have different holidays, maybee this is not a problem for you though I would look very much in to this issue. It is hard during vacationtime when they finish at very different dates. Also one kid can have a week off and the other has to go to school..

Another thing to be considered is the transportation. Do you have a driver? Otherwise it will take much time to bring them to school and back. Traffic here is bad and sometimes it is hard to be on time. Especially when you need to take the kids to 2 different schools.

Good luck and again! Welcome!
