Last beach in Doha city closed

Damn...The beach besides the Intercontinental has been closed. The area has been set aside for a housing project. Why can't Doha, a seaside capital city of an aspiring tourism hub not have at least ONE beach? It was so popular amongst the residents. The same had happened to the one near the old Doha Club. Does anyone know any good beaches near the city limits?

they know to improve around on this land rather destroy what is available and mark it chargeble....this country is developed from which point of view????

Alkhor is a town on the way to an Industrial city where every day 1000's of people have to suffer travelling almost more than 200kms because of no facilities available. The alkhor high way still has 2 tracks and there is trafic jam at the main gate at Ras laffan every day. if any one visits Alkhore for sure will notice things...like no street lights, no schools so small children have to also suffer travelling to Doha every day....for every small thing people have to go to Doha, the corniche is an isolated place with no lights and stagnant water so many mosquitoes around...there were no water pipelines and just recently that came up...not a single petrol station within the town except for the high way, not a single hotel is present, no good parks..no play stations or any activity like swimming, painting, dancing, arts etc classes for children available, no colleges, no sports clubs, not a single gym for ladies,no good jobs availabe for ladies around, no taxies available (so the pvt taxis the malabaris take complete advantage), not many health clinics and specialist clinins are there.

if this area is developed and improved i am sure many of them will start living here and not suffer travelling. I remember it was so diff for my 4 year old son to travel with scrohing heat 55 deg temp every day to doha and back. At least the basic things if the govt proposes it will help many. i am sure apart from Doha outside Qatar no body knows there are other places like wakra and alkhor that exist...

Now the next improvement that is happening all the Indian schools to shift to Wakra creating a big chaos to traffic jams and as far i know every school should be around areas that help people choose and decide which school is nearby...

still there is way to go about these issues....

great urban palnning developed...needs to be rewarded

the only really good beach for swimming in doha was replaced by the Al Sharq spa. The nearest beaches now are outside the reach of anyone without a car. Sad really!

Just don't rely that there would be a public beach around doha...everywhere there's development :)
