Marriage registration

My fiance and I are getting married in London this summer in a civil cermoney at the registrar's. How do you we then register it in Qatar once we come back? Do you have to get it registered in the Qatar embassy in London or do we come here and get it registered in the British embassy of Qatar. We would need to do this since i would then transfer my sponsorship from my father to my husband. I would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has gone thru a similar situation.

I never got mine attested, but if you want to get it attested its no harm, FCO is in central London.

I have informed my family about my decision and my choice of a life partner. Thanks Brixexpat, where is it located in London? Its ok, I will google it. So when we get married at the regstrar's would we get the marriage certificate immeditely? How long will it take to get it stamped and certified.

If you get it stamped from the FCO then no need the Qatari Embassy Stamp.

Finally Kareena found her Mr. Perfect...All the very best to you and your Fiance..:)

Do you have your parents permission to marry a British? Just because you are still under your dad's sponsorship...

Kareena74 yes dear you still need an appointment. Summer is a very busy period and if I were you, I would book a date at the Registry office now, Saturday is a popular day and people book up to year in advance.

We have already done the formalties last year in August when we both went down to Uk. We went to Harrows council and submitted out documents and they put the banns out and we could have married anytime after 16 days to one year. Our marriage permit is valid for one year and expires September 2013. So now since that is done, do we still need to inform them in advance or can we just walk in and get married anytime?

Yes Kareena,

Now regarding the wedding have you booked your appointment with the Registrar at the concerned Registry office yet?

In order to get married in the UK you have to see the Registrar both of you, he will just have a chat with you both to check that you are genuine etc, then he will give you a date for the wedding and the notice shall be displayed in the Registry office for your wedding.

If you need more information check their website or PM me.

Thanks UKengQatar.. So i would need to take the marriage certificate to the Pakistan embassy in Qatar and ask them to change the surname in my passport? Then ask my dad to sign the sponsor release document?

Hope to see you at the wedding..

Your Civil Marriage Registration is Accepted here. You will just need to transfer your Sponsorship, For that I think Tahsinmim gave you the advice which seems correct.

You can change your passport with his Surname before or after the Sponsorship best is to do it before, will make it easier. Assuming that your carrying a Pakistani Passport you will need to change your passport as per their requirements!

Will be in London at the time of your wedding!

I could be wrong, but I believe you'll need to get it attested by the British Embassy in Qatar.
