Moving with 5 year old diabetic daughter
We are planning to move to Doha with our 5 year old daughter who is T1 Diabetic.
Do you know hoe difficult it is to:
1) get a kindergarten / school with nurse
2) live in nurse aka babysitter
3) find some people with children who are diabetic?
4) Healthcare
Our plan is to go first for 3 month and see if we can manage it all.
Is ther anything part time with regards to babisitters/kindergarten etc? only for few monhts?
I have lived for 12 years in Dubai before, so culture, weather etc I am used to, but now with daughter its all new
Thanks in milion for answers
Thanks a lot. Are also kindergartens with nurse in? Because she is 5 so I guess we would still have to place her into a kindergarten. Are there any websites for maid services or live in?
Hamad Hospital has a very good paediatric endocrinology team- my son has been under their care for 12 years. All schools are required to have a school nurse and the schools have links with Qatar Diabetic Association in order to support kids with diabetes in schools.
Try the Doha Mums group for the best response, but as said above diabetes is extremely common in Qatar. Amongst the highest rates in the world. So care is available and probably pretty good.http://www.dohamums.com/
May God bless your daughter!
Diabetes is high among the locals. Kindergarten and schools have waiting lists. Healthcare is cheap (Hamad) but below international standards. Live-in nurses are a major problem.
