OATMEAL BARS
1/2 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsp. vnanilla
2 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts
Melt butter in medium saucepan. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Cool slightly.
Stir in eggs and vanilla and beat well. Stir in oats, baking powder and salt; blend well. Blend in nuts.
Spread into greased 13" x 9" pan and bake about 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Cut into bars while warm.
Its a good combination, try it! LOL

Carol, yes of course you can use butter instead of lard. Lard is best for giving you that flaky and tender crust for pies. ;)
