I have gotten used to being insulted on forums, and sometimes I take things as an insult. I am trying to take what said as advice and not an insult.
But then again, many people dont understand me. I know it is hard for "foreigners" in Qatar, and there is much discrimination, I do know that. My only problem is citizenship. I don't have the citizenship, but I have the blood and culture. My great-grandparents lost their Saudi citizenship for reasons I never tell anyone.
If you are going to talk about my race and culture, know this about me:
I have Arab blood flowing through my veins.
I am Muslim.
The color of my skin is the same as His Highness the Amir's.
I wear Thobe, Ghutrah, and Aghal about 95% of the time.
I speak Arabic, and now I am studying Classical Arabic.
I know, understand, and practice the etiquettes and manners of Arab culture.
I know the differences between the culture, practices, and people of the different GCC states. They are not "all the same" and I know this.
So there shouldnt be any cultural problems, between me and the girl and her family, just citizenship problems.
I just hate being misunderstood. It really does seem like I am cursed.
The reasons I want to move to Qatar is not easy to put into words, but here is a metaphorical example of why I cannot stand having US Citizenship:
Imagine life is like a big football (Soccer) game, and there are two teams. One team has tall, strong, athletic players that play well, and the other team has fat, unathletic players that cannot play. Both teams have fans that wave the team flags and wear the team colors. I would be very unhappy if I was assigned to play for the unathletic fat team, and would not be proud to wave their flag or colors.
But of course, life is even bigger than a football game. I hope you understand the metaphor.
I wanted to leave this, but I just knew people like you were going to say things behind my back! I hate that! I am a real Arab, and I know my culture! There are many ways to wear the Shmagh and Aghal. There are different folds, some people fold back the two sides of the Shmagh over the Aghal, others wear it so that it touches the back, and my favorite way to wear it is down over my shoulders, and if you look around Qatar, or pick up an Arabic newspaper, which I am sure you have never done, you will see many people wear it like this, but others dont. Actually, most people dont wear it like I do, but I like it this way.
I am going to the Arabic forums, and I am done asking questions.
Oh dear, he's taken offense. I really didn't think anyone was too harsh on him this time. I hate to see kids' bubbles burst. Life has a way of doing that soon enough as it is.
OH! This is Abdullah! the one with the hatred toward the West and blatantly says it! How he hates the US and wants to live in Qatar because its a Muslim country....mmmmm I remember you abdul me ole mucker!
AbdullahAlSaeed, have you considered coming to Qatar for university? It would be a nice way for you to see the country and perhaps get a better chance at a job here after graduation (or even to meet that nice GCC girl.)
AbuAmerican, AbdullahAlSaeed has never been to the Gulf, he's an American teenager. He's never met a Qatari girl, he's asking hypothetically. And I have always heard that Qataris need permission from the government to marry non-Qataris (as per Pitstop.) It is my understanding that if a Qatari goes off and marries in another country without that permission the marriage is null and void here, in other words, the Qatari cannot come home again and have his/her marriage valid in Qatar. Pitstop?
I just CANNOT relate to most of the "Arab Americans". The Gulf is where I belong, I follow Arab culture in every way.
Every day I find my desire to live in Qatar multiply exponentially.
I just do not like Western culture, I dont know why I was born in America.
It just is not "me", I just cannot do anything Western, I tried once, and now ask myself why did I even try to be like a Westerner? Everything in Western culture is backwards to me. This is not my society.
Its NOT that I am "trying too hard" or anything, but it just comes naturally to me to be Arab, and do things the Arab way.
Not every single Gulf Arab is perfect, I know this, and every country has its problems, but you have to admit, this is a beautiful, traditional country with a lot of history.
And to those who said I should marry in Europe or USA, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING when you told me this?!
Not only is that illegal, but absolutely wrong.
Ahhhh my difficult life; good thing Islam prevents me from commiting suicide....
Hi, everybody here I do not actually know how you people are worrying yourselves by discussing this kind of issue, which may be indefinite for now but, we do not know what will happen in the nearest future!!! such is life.
You people should forget about it for now and.....
You need permission from the Qatar government in order for a Qatari to marry a non-Qatari. In the case of Qataris marrying foreigners it is certainly not automatically granted. It is illegal to marry outside of Qatar without government permission as well.
Well, you have to find a Qatari girl first (which isn't logistically easy) and then get permission from her family. Since Qatari families usually prefer to have their daughters marry other Qataris, often their cousins, you would appear to have an uphill battle.

And PM, the Gulf is the ONLY place for me.

You people can't stop insulting, can you (Abu American)? I am not even going to bother anymore. And I am not an "American teenager"!!!
You know what, I am out of here for good.
Yes, I know the world will rejoice, and I wont even reply to the sarcastic, stupid comments that will inevitably follow this post.
All I do is ask simple questions.
Bye

Indeed, AbuAmerican, calling PITSTOP!

No Qatari is allowed to marry a non-Qatari without the approval of the Authorities. That's just the way it is. Male or Female.
hic......hic! hooch!...
What has the government got to do with who is marrying whom?
From the government of Lebanon?
My friend is marrying a Lebanese. They have to get an approval from the government.
Good luck!
think about her
Susiana Kentikian!
You have a valid point, but in this case there is no family pressure to endure..
The culture clash is something to be wary of. I loved my Cuban shotputter, but we were from different worlds..:(

.
Thank you Mandilulur, but I know the obvious! I was asking about the law, like if it was illegal or not.
Well, you have to find a Qatari girl first (which isn't logistically easy) and then get permission from her family. Since Qatari families usually prefer to have their daughters marry other Qataris, often their cousins, you would appear to have an uphill battle.
Mandi
even if you come from jupiter you can marry her..
Seriously....
dude, to think that you are "muslim" though born in america. I don"t think it's illegal..
