Roundabouts are a great invention. "Used properly", they control and regulate traffic flow.. The Brits should be given an award for their invention.... :O)

Sania Mirza...drive on the Right side Only...

....even if you want to go straight....make sure you indicate on the 1st exit and watch the car on your left very carefully. The 2nd exit is yours.

On most R/A if you want to go left you keep the vehicle in the leftmost lane.

When you approach a flyover and you want to go left...you have to initially go right reach the R/A and then turn left.

...its very strange that you got your License and you started to notice the R/A just now ;)....

There is one R/A in Matunga, Mumbai...officially called "Maheshwari Udayan"...

unofficially called "Gandu Bagicha" ie homo's garden

...lol....its a garden in a Roundabout...so no family or kids go there crossing the crazy R/A traffic....

Before I came to Doha, I had been driving for years. But as with any other country, the first couple of weeks driving in some new country gets some getting used to. There used to be many more round abouts btw :)

Like the others said, stick to your lane and be careful in a roundabout, as some drivers don't notice how they take an RA in a straight line so they end up crossing three lanes..lol

You'll be fine :)

you are in Doha and learn driving, if you are scared to turn left or right it is not road it is problem in your driving. so learn to live and drive here

Lower your speed between 30 to 40 kph on round-abouts. It helps slow down the traffic behind you.

We can't blame that on the Brits :(

Chandigarh was developed after the Brits left but we can blame the French. A French architect designed it.

Blame the Brits they put all of these roundabouts in. They should all be stoned to death while drinking warm beer

britexpat yes. My home town only had roundabouts till a short while back. They are installing signals at most places now though.

If you can, try driving straight thru them ;-))

You'll get used to it, just give yourself time!

dev.in.doha is right..just keep your lane accurate..& always use indicators...

And one more thing, normally they teach in driving schools to exit the round about in the slowest lane...but you've to keep an eye on your right side mirror to check if there is a vehicle exiting the round about as well. Practically, its always better to keep your lane even while exiting the round about.

roundabouts! where are roundabouts... yes we call them signalized roundabouts... & remainings are yet to be signalize... fyi~!~

Keep your lane, use indicators, when you are just about to enter the round about, give priority to the car approaching from your left... & always use the right indicator while exiting the round about.

First get a license.. Then, Don't take U turns.. Roundabouts are great because they slow traffic down..

Are you Sania Mirza?

Anyway, In the beginning everybody feels like that, especially if you are new to Doha, but gradually you will get used to it and be comfortable in manoeuvering the roundabouts.

Keep ur car in right lane before approaching roundabout. If you have to go straight, keep in middle lane. Same for turning right or left, keep in particular lane. Dont change lane in roundabout. Always use turn indicator.
