Single Parenting in Doha?

I am considering moving to Doha with my 8 year old daughter from the US. We have never lived outside the US before, but we have traveled a lot. I'd like some feedback on single-parenting experiences in Doha. Specifically, finding childcare help, managing work / school pickups, quality of the Qatari medical system, etc.

Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Be sure that school tuition is included in your package. You biggest challenge will probably be how to get your daughter to school and back if you are working. Also, make sure that your employer knows how to walk through the joining visa for a single parent, you may need special paperwork from home (custody rights, etc.).

I do not have any parenting experience, but can offer some advice as thus...

- The Medical system in Qatar is quite good. Do you already have an employment offer from a company here? If that's the case, discuss the medical plan with them..It should cover for you and you daughter.

- You'll definately get help with nannies/household workers.

- As a single parent, I advise you to join ladies' clubs in Qatar, esp Doha.. You should meet like minded women there... There are a few which I've heard of.

-And whatever your challenges as a single parent, I hope you do well to overcome them. Wish you the very best! :)

I'm sure single parenting is hard anywhere in the world, but Doha is likely to offer some unique challenges. Not being a parent myself, I think others can specify what the challeges are. But I will say that you can get cheap nannies and I know alot of people who have done this.
