Where do women go to keep from going mad during the day in Qatar?

Hello. I have just moved out to Qatar with my husband and am feeling a little lonely while he is at work. Are there any groups in Doha, where women meet up during the day? In Abu Dhabi, where we were previously, there were all sorts of groups including book clubs, craft groups etc. Are there any in Doha?
Many thanks

Lots of groups for ladies, and once you've joined one you find out about others

International Ladies Potluck Group

Tuesday Ladies Group www.tlgdoha.com

American Womens Assoc (you don't have to be American to be a member) has several activity groups incl scrapbooking, stitching, book group, bridge, etc

I too lately moved to Qatar from Canada and I found this site very decent and interesting, but unfortunately I was shocked to see the reply from one of the members saying " find a boy friend". There is a lady who wanted to know about the female activities and what immpression she will get from the members of this site. Frankly speaking, I am totally upset with such an answer and would request the administrator to ban people having such a cheap mentality. I am sure other members who are really decent and family oriented would agree with me and please don't forget we are not in West, we are in Islamic country and Islam teaches us to respect the members of opposite sex.

go buy a copy of the MARHABA

book. It literally lists hundreds of activities from tennis lessons to dancing to cooking to book groups etc. I also know women who volunteer at their kids schools and others are taking on line college courses. There is an unlimited number of things to do---you just have to make an effort to find those that interest you.

No unfortunately there isn't a great deal. You could get a job or alternatively you can jack it in and head home.

Wendy -

Do you have kids? If so, you might be interested in joining Doha Expat Mums & Kids (http://www.dohaexpatmumsandkids.com) . If not, you are still more than welcome to join us for our activities - we have HEAPS AND HEAPS of stuff on for March. Cooking classes, beauty events, afternoon teas, etc. Most of the daytime events don't involve kids...well, the coffees do but not the beauty, cooking, etc. events.

Give me a shout if I can help you with anything.
