My wife is wondering about the life and dressing of women in Qatar. which kind of dress women can wear in public places etc. can they wear jeens etc? or is wearing "abaya" must(as in Saudi Arabia)?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Thank all, I didn't mean that , she was just thinking about "abaya" or that kind of dressing, offcourse she she is pakistani and she wear a desent dressing.
last Saturday afternoon, I went to villagio(local shopping mall) to pay my phone bill, and I saw more westerners/expats than any other people, and it was quite busy as well.
Some of the women there were dressed with very skimmpy and tight fitting clothes, I thought wow!! this place is changing fast.... no one seems to say anything
I mean if they were dressed like that in UK, people over there would think, that's abit cheap... but they are doing it over here. I saw this middle aged womanwearing a see through top with tight fitting skin colour shorts which were shorter than the top itself, it was quiet cheap. and there wee women with small shorts and tight tank tops allover the shop floor
also on the corniche you do see the girlies flaunting their stuff.
so it seems now days you can wear or not wear anything.... as you like (as they say over here)
Thank you very much you both, I got job in QU and will be moving in August, My wife is also thinking of doing some job there, She has an MA English from Pakistan, I don't know whether she can find some teaching job etc, It will be great if someone can help (providing information) in this regard.
Qatar is anything but saudia arabia. It's pretty open, ur wife can even wear shorts and tanktops. It's for her own protection to cover up the body. Either way, people tend to look.

as long as she respects she is in a muslim country then she can wear what she wants, respect thats what its about some people dont respect it,
And if she's a big girl, please no tight fitting clothes.
That should be banned in every country.
