Do not expect everything from god :)

There is a short and funny story. Please people do not take it offensive.

Once upon a time there was an imam in a village spending most of his time in the mosque and keeping himself away from any kind of sinful acts. One day villagers heard a big storm was coming. So 3 villagers comes and tells him. "Imam please come with us there will a storm and we are afraid that there will be torrent which makes dangerous to stay here." But Imam was a faithful person and was in God's house. He replies no I am safe here in the mosque. God will protect me, I am a good muslim. After a while water level becomes higher and reaches till first floor. So a boat and a rescue team comes to save him and calls the imam. "Come with us you are going to drown here." But he gives same answer. He was inside the house of god and he was a good muslim so God is going to save his life. After a while water reaches till minaret. A rescue helicopter comes to save him and they find him at the top of minaret and asks him to come to helicopter. But imam gives same answer. In the end water reaches to the top of minaret and he drowns. When he finds himself other side and realize he was already dead. He was sad and angry. He was going to be taken to heaven but even though he could not believe that his god did not save him. Angels ask him the reason and he tells his story. So, one angel comes in front of God and tells his story. God becomes angry and says. Tell this idiot I sent him 3 faithful villagers, a boat and a rescue team, and a rescue helicopter to save his life and protect him. But he refused all. What he was expecting from me more?

Most probably the word

"Tevekkul"

"1. putting oneself in God´s hands, trusting that God will arrange things for the best. 2. resigning oneself to one´s fate, resignation

is an Arabic word. While we are educated; for the meaning of tevekkul we are told that do your best to achieve what you want and pray to god/expect from the god for the best. But some people expect everything from god without doing anything. This is just a joke about such kind of people.

Edit: Well as a muslim I do not see anything wrong but if I can edit the original post I will be appreciated for the tips ;)

it's not offensive. But next time, Default Nick, use generic such as instead of saying Imam, say "a religious leader". Instead of Mosque, say "house of god" so it may not "somehow sound-offending" to the majority of people here in this country or region.

And it's "God" with a capital G unless you are referring to another god/s.

To be honest I agree with the concept of the story but not the delivery and subject title. Perhaps put it down to cultural or language differences, I think it could have been done a bit better.

I just dont get it... We are in Qatar and everyone knows how sensitive religious issues can be but still insist on posting this. The subject title alone will send some QL'ers into a rage coma.

Come on guys, you all know what this will spark and by saying "dont take offense" in the beginning of your post doesnt make it acceptable.

The guidelines speak for themselves.

http://www.qatarliving.com/guidelines

I do believe religion can be discussed in a civilized manner but this is definately not going to get rave reviews from a lot of QL'ers and you know it.

i dont feel offended..and u r right its not offensive :) the thing is its not funny + its saying "Do not expect everything from god :)" .. this will tempt QLers to start fights defening their believes and personal points-of-view.. come on.. whenever religion is mentioned in QL ppl start to argue endlessly :S

the bottom line is: everyone knows that religion-related threads causes "battles" and they just keep on posting them..

dont u think there are many other things to make fun of ?
