How do I choose a dentist in Doha?

I'd like to make a dental appointment for me and my partner. Neither of us have health cards (I'm just a visitor). I have read that it is best to go to your local government health clinic first and then potentially be referred elsewhere. Do you agree? If not can anyone recommend a private dentist?
