JOSEPHPALLAN, If you didnot agree with what the doc said, you should have asked at that time and I am sure he would have clarified your doubts.
High fever is very dangerous for the brain of children and specially during any viral illness, fever tends to shoot up very fast. There is a risk that child may get febrile convulsion. Hence, most doctors prefer to prescribe medicines reducing fever round-the-clock for atleast few days(as per the expected days of recovery) irrespective of child having fever or not just to make sure that the child doesnot get febrile convulsions.
I went to al-ahli hospital for my kids fever and cold and the doctor prescribed suppository for fever for seven days--3 times a day.It was an ordinary fever...
And the thing is that he told to give that medicine even if the fever is gone.....CANT BELIEVE WHY HE SAID SO...

Dear Dramana
I always keep suppository medicines in my fridge for fever, vomiting etc...
my doctor in muscat had told me if high fever comes we have to give suppositry...ie if the fever is more than 102 or nearly 103...
we used to check the fever with thermometer always..
when we went to alahli hospital, the fever was not so high...
even if it is...no doctor will prescribe suppository for seven days(3 times a day)..we had doubt...so we went and asked the doctor second time too...
then he said to give it even if the fewer is not there...(like antibiotic)
