What to do if you are a hit-and-run victim
Did you know that the Department of Traffic can fine motorists QAR1,000 for not reporting accidents within 48 hours, especially hit-and-run cases?
Well dispite these laws in place, some motorists still prefer not to report themselves even if it's just a mishap. But fret not because if you're the victim of a hit-and-run incident, then you just need to follow these steps:
- Go to the nearest traffic department (accidents investigation section) to file a complaint.
- Produce your driving license and registration (if you're the owner of the car)
- If you're not the owner, produce the original Qatar ID of the owner.
- If it's a company car, produce a valid letter from the comapny that specifies the date and location of the incident. Also include details about the damages, name of the driver, copy of company registration and take the car for review.
Make sure you have all of the above depending on the circumstances to make sure you sail through the procedure.

Good question, you guys are talking of two motorists. what if the victim of a hit and run is a pedestrian?
What if you are a pedestrian and the victim?
999 is the best option- whenever you call them they will ask you two question. the guy is with you or he hit & run?
Your vehicle can move or not? (if its minor come to Traffic dept. or else nearest police patrol will be there.
Khalaaas
"Did you know that the Department of Traffic can fine motorists QAR1,000 for not reporting accidents within 48 hours, especially hit-and-run cases?" - They clearly talk about ACCIDENTS (if you can read).
Hit and run ya khan, hit and run... The guy has run... This is about situations where you return to your car and find someone's hit it and run... In which case, you do need to go to the traffic dept and get a report and get your car repaired at your expense...
Khan and WT might be wrong. Looks like the info is sourced from the Traffic Dept.
Khan// : read it again.. it's for Hit n Run Cases.. not for road accidents
This is just stupid , you guys are living a stupidlife
Is videographic evidence acceptable?
Who is that user "Qatar Living"? And why is he or she publishing false information?
Khan is 100% right. The report is false! Journalism at its best, as usual.
Procedure:
1) Call emergency 999 to report accident at the same time of accident . They will advise whether to stay there or go to Police station.
2) Go to police station and submit ID of the person who is involved in the accident (not Owner ID- otherwise the owner will get the black points) and the Istemara card.
3) Wait for the time he say, to get your insurance papers. This time can range from 5 minutes to 2 weeks.
All the above steps are wrong
