Almost 10,000 new driving licences were issued in Qatar in October, says report
Around 50% more driving licences were issued in Qatar in October when compared with September this year on Month on Month basis, reported The Peninsula.
According to Qatar Monthly Statistics released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, 9,823 driving licences were issued in October compared to 6,515 issued in September this year.
The status indicates a significant increase in issuance of driving licences to Qatari and expatriate females. In September, while 117 non-Qatari females received driving licences, the numbers climbed to 1,991 in October. This is an almost 1,600% increase.
In October, 7,061 non-Qatari men received licences compared to 5,864 in September. This is a 20% increase.
According to official figures, the clearing of vehicles also increased significantly in October. In September, the number of cleared vehicles were 74,445 while it rose to 109, 034 in October (46.5% increase).
The registration of new vehicles has also witnessed a 54.8% increase (4,140 to 6,407).
There was also a 38.6% increase in the number of traffic violations in October. While the number of violations in September were 99, 135, it increased to 137,376 in October. As many as 75,689 violations in October were related to speeding.
