The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced that the academic year 2020-2021 for government and private schools, will begin on September 1, 2020.

Schools staff at government schools will return to work by August 19 while students in all schools (government and private) will start classes on September 1, 2020.

Attendance is mandatory for staff and students.

The Ministry confirms that it is working closely with schools’ administrations to put in place the necessary plans and procedures to ensure the safety of staff and students.

All schools are required to fully comply with the precautionary measures to maintain safe environments for all parties involved in the educational process.

As the country moves closer to Phase 3, set to begin on August 1, earlier, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has issued a series of guidelines to ensure the safety of children in nurseries.

As a parents of school going kids here in Qatar, i do belief in the government initiatives. I do belief when the govt is making some plans to re open the school, definitely they must have did their home works. And as i have said many times The schools and education institutions shall be the last organization to get the green signals for opening. Lets hope for the good, And do our part to protect ourselves and our children's.

How safety is it for kids to go to school at this poitn of time even if the school is starting in Sept 2020. Can the govt give guarantee that there wont be community spread when the school open. It will be advised if the govt can consider to have the entire academic year based on online learning until a solution has been sought for the pandemic. I don't think any parent will send their children especially if they are studying in primary school during the pandemic.
