Be careful, eating publicly during Ramadan fasting hours could land you in jail!
With the holy month of Ramadan just around the corner, devout Muslims are preparing to welcome it with humble devotion.
Fasting during the period is one of the pillars of Islam and considered a very important thing to do.
Even if they do not fast, non-Muslims in Qatar should respect local customs and traditions and keep themselves away from eating food in public.
Not only is it basic courtesy, failing to do so could even land you in jail.
According to Article 267 of Qatari Law, you can be imprisoned for three months and fined up to QR 3,000 if you are found eating or drinking in public during Ramadan fasting hours.
Women should be respectful about their dressing and should avoid tight-fitting clothes and keep away from exposing their legs and shoulders.
Ramadan is a month of absolute piety and asking for forgiveness from Allah. Let us work towards making it a joyous experience for all.
Molten metal. Ur not only in there are no millions of people and in that many are new. It's our duty to share the knowlege. Hope u understand. :)
But isn't it also true that nursing women, and children are exempt? Also I think this fine is for someone willing eating in public in difiance of the law. Two years ago I did it completly by accident. I had been working all day and was very thirsty. While waiting for my friend at a shop. Without thinking I opened my water and started drinking it. One of the nice Muslim gentlemen at the tables outside of the shop reminded me it was Ramadan. I felt very bad and apologised. I had done it completly by accident.
MM...Its for the people who does not know about this. There are many who are new to Qatar. Thanks QL for this good initiative.
We all know this ............ thanks for a reminder ..............
