Court sentences Arab motorist to six months in prison
An Arab motorist has been sentenced in absentia to six months in jail for running over a pedestrian.
Furthermore, Gulf Times reports that according to the local Arab daily Arrayah, the man has also been asked to pay blood money of QR 200,000 and a fine of QR 10,000 to the legal heirs of the victim in collaboration with the insurance company concerned.
A Doha Court has found the man guilty of committing unpremeditated killing. The court further stated that the man had been driving recklessly and had hit the pedestrian, throwing him about 25m away.
Due to this impact, the victim had suffered from several severe injuries and fractures which had brought about death.
The court also ordered the withdrawal of the defendant’s driving license for a month.

Wondering what could have been the case if it was an expat that killed and Arab man. That would have amounted to death sentence without any delay.
Meaning that ALL expats should be careful crossing pedestrians :)
wow
WOW! really? !! WOW! ----- speechless ....
Life is only worth QR 200,000.00 here. Not a big deal. You are in Qatar.
Death by dangerous driving and you lose your license for a month and jail for 6 months? big deterrent that, How about 5-10 years in jail and banned for life?
Withdrawing the driver license in absentia is also a cool joke!
Does this mean that there is no chance of catching him ?
