A Pizza Hut branch on Al Khartiyat Road in Umm Salal has been called for a closure.

The branch will be closed for 15 days as it was reported to "prepare food under unsanitary circumstances" by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP) on its website.

The "unsanitary circumstances" were not elaborated by the Baladiya, but they have posted a photo of a human hair on a piece of fried chicken.

Five other restaurants in Al Sadd and Old Airport have also been temporarily closed this week as the hygiene was not maintained by the restaurants.

The restaurants included Abha in Al Sadd and Chandez in the Old Airport area, which were shut down for seven days.

Meanwhile, Mr. Broast BBQ, Lebanese Shawarma and Al Aqsa in Old Airport were closed for 14 days, according to the website.

According to a statement issued by the MMUP yesterday on its Facebook page, food containing insects and stale food were some reasons which led to the closure of these restaurants.

The statement added that the restaurants violated law number (8) for the year 1990, regarding regulating human food control.

Residents who believe they have suffered food poisoning or any other ailment from a restaurant can report their cases to the Supreme Council of Health hotline at 6674 0948 and 6674 0951.

Mm: What wives? The guys who eat at these places are either single or so far away from their wives and mothers that lovingly cooked home made food is just something they see in their dreams or smell from the neighboring families' homes haha...i really feel for them and that is why I am saying that these eateries which serve these lonely men bad and unhygienic food should be punished severely...the guy is alone and hungry and cant cook...he paid you...the least you can do is serve him a fresh clean meal...do not say anything to argue that MM, you know I'm right and even though we're friends, I'll choke you to death if you debate this any further haha :-)

Humbles: One of the great things about Qatar and the gulf is that a few eatery closures are no problem...there are many alternatives to go to and the violating ones should definitely be taken down...

People are going to be hungry, there must be some alternative in the neighbouring shops before closing a popular food centre.

Call the same number man, its not rocket science...and call them fast...the whole country is being built by bachelors and yet they are the most marginalized part of society. All these restaurants cater mostly to young working men and I can only imagine what shortcuts an under the radar mess facility in a villa might be taking.

To whom we should report if there is a illegal activity of restaurant which is running inside a villa in the name of mess for bachelors?
