Former Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez wins Al Dana Saving’s QR1m prize

Legendary Spanish footballer Xavi Hernandez, who currently plies his trade with Al Sadd Club, recently had the surprise of his life when he won Doha Bank’s QR1m prize for its Al Dana Savings Scheme campaign for June 2017.

The draw event took place at Doha Bank’s Mall of Qatar branch and was streamed live on Doha Bank’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube social media platforms, reported Gulf Times.

“Winning the QR1mn cash prize was an unexpected but welcome surprise. I had opened my account in Doha Bank on December 5, 2016, as I had taken interest in the Al Dana programme,” he was quoted as saying by The Peninsula.

“I started to invest with the Al Dana Savings programme, aiming to win the QR1mn. Today, I can say that I’m happy that I opened the account and invested my savings,” he said.

The second biggest prize – QR100,000 – was awarded to M Al Majid, while 15 additional winners received with QR10,000 each.

“The Al Dana Savings Scheme campaign is currently in its 13th year, and to date the programme has created many millionaires and given out cash prizes worth millions of Qatari riyals. We’re proud to see the programme continue to grow in impact — both in terms of promoting a savings culture among Qatari residents and providing them with an opportunity to win life-changing prizes,” said Doha Bank chief executive Dr R Seetharaman.
