A four-year-old British girl died in Qatar after reportedly being left in a car outside school for several hours.

The child, identified as Firdaws Khan, was discovered around midday. She was reportedly left there for several hours, from the morning, by a family member who is a teacher. She was pronounced dead on Monday.

However, the circumstances surrounding her death is still unclear, with the British Embassy saying the case is still under investigation by local authorities.

The mother of the girl has been left ‘distraught,’ with a friend telling Doha News: "She wants to remind people that it is hot now, and they must be careful not to leave any children in the car for any length of time."

In 2010, a four-year-old kindergarten student at an Indian school, also a girl, died when she was left behind in a locked school bus for more than four hours.

Since then, schools have increased monitoring on buses by adding attendants to ensure no children are left behind.

Condolences and all that but the issue here is how people manage to forget children and animals in cars; as someone who is too scared of the heat to even leave a cigarette stub or lighter behind, it boggles my mind how someone could forget all about a baby; just how busy, distracted or outright careless does a person have to be to accomplish that? No sympathy and even though it won't bring the baby back; i say this person should be punished... Severely...

why would someone leave a little child inside a car for hours with no supervision and on this kind of weather?

Brit,

Whatever the circumstances it's tragic beyond belief. I have a friend in the UK who lost a child and I have no idea how they carry on. The strongest person I have ever met. Hands down.

Deleerious: From what I've read, It looks like that it wasn't the mother who left the child in the car ....

As usual, the story is not fully told

Sorry - this is a child. A human being, who a god graced your family with. It's not a can of coke left in a car. I - as a parent, would like to remind THEM of this.

That poor poor child.

Unforgivable.

How can you leave a toddler in a vehicle for several hours...these people do not deserve to be parents. They must have also poor choice of baby sister to look after the kid. This mindless attitude!!!

May the little girl rest in Peace!
