The Indian embassy has reported the deaths of 57 Indian nationals in Qatar since the beginning of 2015, its monthly community house was informed on Thursday. Last year a total of 279 Indians died in the country.

So far this year, the mission received 551 complaints at its Labour and Community section. Last year a total of 3,943 complaints were received.

The house was also told that 96 Indians are serving jail sentence at the country's Central Prison while 100 people are awaiting deportation.

The latest figures of those serving jail sentence was based on the visit of an Indian embassy team to the Central Prison earlier this month.

On the basis of the requests received from the Qatari authorities for travel documents for inmates housed at the Deportation Centre, the embassy has issued 12 emergency certificates so far this month.

The embassy also issued four air tickets to Indian nationals in distress for their return to the home land this month.
The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) has issued four tickets so far this month.

The ICBF hosted a free medical camp yesterday for the low-paid workers of all nationalities residing in the Al Khor area at Aster Medical Centre premises, Al Khor.

The camp was organised in collaboration with the Indian Doctors Club (Indian Medical Association) and Aster Medical Centre.

I blame the Indian govt. to participate in modern day slavery. Just because the population control is out of their hands, this might be a solution for it or something. But it is their fault for sending Indians to Qatar and allowing them to earn 200 dollars a month when the cost of living is clearly 200 times more than what they get paid. Indian govt. needs to crack down on those a**holes at employment agencies that make money off these poor uneducated people.
