Instagram user arrested after showing off rifle to followers
A young man was arrested by authorities after he posted a picture of his unlicensed rifle on Instagram in an attempt to show-off to his followers.
He was caught by authorities, tried and sentenced by a court to a year in jail and fined QR10,000 ($2,746) for keeping the weapon without licence.
According to the local Arabic daily Al Raya, the man posted a photograph of a German Kalashnikov gun on his Instagram account.
The Search and Follow-up Department at the Ministry of Interior was tipped off by a secret agent. A search of his home led to the recovery of the rifle.
Later, the public prosecution filed charges after the state forensic laboratory confirmed that it was a German Kalashnikov and in a "working" condition.
The court sentenced the man to a year in prison and fined him QR10,000 for keeping the gun without license.
The defence lawyer, though, argued in the court that his client had no intention of committing any crime with the Kalashnikov. "He just had it for fun."
The prosecution counter-argued that owning a gun without license was illegal punishable by law. [Source: The Peninsula]

Prize, wuane isn't a joker ,he will be more happy being called a mad if u watch his comments when he is giving advice without need.
MM , Jokers 'r welcome at QL ,we need them too.
Wunae , You often make a good joker of yourself indeed ......... but your suggestion is late or do you think that the authorities would wait for your directions on matters like this ?
No surprise there, if they can afford to buy exotic petts, what more for a gun? I might not be shocked if another news comes up saying "a local resident bought a Russian Tank" and send pictures are rode it in the desert for display :D
There are no German Kalashnikov's in this world....it's Russian.
Scary to think some people have guns in Qatar and some of them are not responsible and trained for that matter to handle firearms.
And FYI person who ever wrote this article, " The AK-47 first developed in the Soviet Union in 1946, by Mikhail Kalashnikov " is of Russian decent and not German.
It's very scary. Who knows how many other people in Doha also have rifles and guns and weapons. I hope the authorities crack down on this threat to our safety and security.
Indeed.. it’s illegal no matter what reason is
Question now is, how and where the hell did he get that thing?
