Vendors at the popular Abu Hamour fruit and vegetable market are in a crisis as encounter loses on a daily basis beacuse of lack of proper storage facilities for perishable items.
The rising temperature and scorching heat has caused the vendors great difficulties as the excess stock of fruits and vegetables goes to waste everyday due to the lack of air-conditioned space.
Some shopkeepers said they did not mind an increase in rental charges if they were given better facilities such as properly covered stalls with air-conditioning and cool storage areas to avoid any daily loss.

Many of them have reported a daily loss of about 10-25% of the total goods, the Gulf Times has reported.
