Man gets jail and fine for assaulting police officer
A criminal court has sentenced a GCC citizen to six months in jail and imposed a fine of QR5,000 for assaulting a traffic officer on duty, The Peninsula reports.
The convict did not attend the trial and a summon was sent to his latest address. Based on the request of public prosecution, the court decided to continue the hearing in absentia.
According to the case file, the victim (officer) was working with the Traffic Department as a policeman. On the day of incident, he was on night duty when he received a call from the control room about a road accident.
The caller said a accident had occurred in West Bay behind Lagoona Mall. The officer rushed in a patrol vehicle to the site alone. When he arrived at the site, he saw the accident in which a BMW car with diplomatic number plate had collided with a GMC pickup.
The car owner said it was not his fault and blamed the pickup. The officer approached the pickup owner (the convict) and asked him to produce driver's licence, road permit for his pickup and get into the patrol vehicle.
The convict's breath had the smell of liquor and could not walk properly, said the officer. The officer then went to the car owner to take his statement for necessary formalities.
When he returned to his patrol vehicle to take the convict to the department, the latter turned violent, tried to snatch papers from him and hit him on his back.
The officer managed to control the situation and called Al Fazaa police, who took the culprit to police station. [The Peninsula]
urstruly: The "GCC" national isn't behind bars, and never will be. This is just one of those show trials where they pretend to dish out justice, but instead just put on a show. We all know that there's one rule for one passport and one rule for another.
However, if you have a hot wire to the Bahraini ambassador in Riyadh you can also get drunk in Saudi Arabia.
You can get drunk everywhere in the GCC except in the KSA.
Normally the drunkards come from Saudi Arabia.
so the "GCC" national convict finds a place behind the bars only for assaulting an on-duty police officer. so why doesn't he get a punishment for driving under the influence of alcohol and creating an accident? I bet the punishment for drinking & driving is more severe than 5k and 6 months in jail. Now I know which nationality is he from.
Maybe he is an ambassador somewhere.
So , the "convict" is probably living abroad
I wonder which country this drunk GCC national was from?
