Ministry recalls IKEA's safety gate product
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced the recall of IKEA safety gates of Al Futtaim-IKEA company due to lack of stability of the door on the top of the stairs.
The ministry said the recall is part of ongoing coordination and follow-up to ascertain the extent of dealers' commitment to follow up defects and repair them to protect consumers' rights.
There was a similar recall for the same product in the US and Canada too.
The ministry stressed that it will coordinate with dealers to follow up maintenance and repairs and communicate with customers to ensure implementation of procedures to fix defects.
It urged consumers to report any abuse or irregularities to the Department of Consumer Protection and Commercial Fraud Combat which receive complaints, suggestions and inquiries through its various channels. [The Peninsula]

ikea is nice designs, but mediocre quality ... their items may be suitable for motels and inns in remote areas, nothing more and nothing less ...
Or it's just when a big company such as Ikea outsources to China for cheap manufacturing, then it's good sign it may of been made with speed in mind and profit rather than workmanship and quality.
Plus the Irony of safety gate not being safe is 1. Amusing, 2.A warning, 3. A sign of the times. Take your pick.
Quality supervisor may be on leave that day ................ when your bed was made .............
I like Ikea, but seems the quality control has been lacking lately. I have a bed we had for one month that has a broken wood beam.
