MoI outline procedure to follow in order to apply for a Permanent Residency card
HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani recently announced a new initiative by which a limited number of qualified people will be given Permanent Residency (PR) in the country each year.
With it, Qatar became the first country in the Middle East to announce such a plan. The new initiative is expected to help increase investments in Qatar and attract more capital, contributing to further economic growth. Qatar is also expected to benefit from people with special competencies.
Yesterday, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior held a press conference to release a design of the PR cards and also elaborate on the procedure for application of the same.

MoI Director Brigadier Salem Saqr Al Muraikhi said PR cards would be issued for a period of five years, which could then be renewed, just like normal residence permits, reported Gulf Times.

PR cards will give their holders a lot of advantages, including in the fields of healthcare and education. They will receive treatment and education in government institutions within the State on par with Qataris, said the MoI’s top official.
The spouse of the PR cardholder, as well as his/her children, shall enjoy privileges granted to PR cardholder pertaining to residence, health and education until the age of 18.

The holder of the PR card will also have the right to invest in sectors of the national economy without a Qatari partner.
The cardholder may leave the country and return to it during the period of its validity without obtaining any consent or permit.

A sample of the PR card was released yesterday and MoI announced that preparations were under way to implement the law.
“The applications for permanent residency will be received through MoI website or one of its electronic applications,” said Brigadier Al Muraikhi, according to The Peninsula.
The applications will be subjected to legal review and compliance to meet all legal requirements and other conditions by legal auditors of the Committee.
“The applications will then be submitted to the Committee which will issue its recommendations on such applications. In case of approval, the applications will be referred to General Directorate of Passports to issue Permanent Residency card,” he added.

One of the main criteria for being granted PR cards pertains to the duration of an applicant’s stay in the country.
“The applicant should have a continuous normal legal residency in Qatar for 20 years if born outside and 10 years if born in the country, provided that the period of residence is consecutive and prior to the date of applying for a PR permit,” Al Muraikhi was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.
As well Individuals who have done great services to the country and those with special capabilities needed by the country are also eligible for #PermanentResidency and exempted from the above condition of 10 and 20 years. #Qatar #MoIQatar

The clause of continuous stay is not undermined by the applicant staying outside the country for 60 days in a year. In all cases, this period shall be deducted from the total time calculated as residency in the country.

The applicant should have enough income to meet his needs as well as those of his dependents, should be of good conduct and reputation and not convicted by a final ruling inside or outside Qatar for crimes that undermine honesty, trust and fame. The applicant should be fluent in Arabic.

It might take after thousands generations to achieve the p.r card. Due limited quota of 100 persons per annum. So seems no advantage for even ppl staying here 10-60 yrs in Qatar.
Other overseas countrys rules are pretty very much relaxed even staying abroad from 06 months to 5 yrs expats get all green cards and even nationality with more facilitys there..Qatar is the top richest country in the world. So we must expect the best ever rules and facilitys for expats in general.
Its a known fact of expats who leave their homes and get jobs here then develope and boost qatar economy.
dreaunfortunately. that brightful day will be seen in our dreams only..
