Pandemonium had ensued last month when Al Rayah Driving School, one of the older such institutions in the country, suddenly shut shop one morning.

They did so without any prior notice and it caught most of the learners by surprise. Now, word is officially in that the school will be relocated from Al Mesilla to Umm Salal, with the move taking at least six months to a year to complete.

“We’re making necessary preparations, but transferring the school’s operations to the new location in Umm Salal will take about six months to one year. We’re doing everything to make the training area and its facilities ready for our aspirants,” Hassan Nassar, manager of Dallah Driving Academy, Al Rayah Driving School’s sister concern, was quoted as saying by Gulf Times.

Al Rayah has been using Dallah’s facilities in Industrial Area ever since the Supreme Judiciary Council ordered it to vacate the premises in October.

Al Rayah currently uses 150 vehicles for road practice while Dallah, believed to be the biggest driving school in Qatar, has around 200 cars and 50 heavy equipment vehicles.
