Whenever someone leaves Qatar for good, one of the things on top of their minds will be the lump sum amount they will get as end of service benefits.

Multiple factors are taken into consideration when calculating it and sometimes, it can be quite confusing.

However, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MOLSA) has made things simpler by launching a new online service for expatriates to do it easily, reported The Peninsula.

While the service is available only in Arabic at the moment, an English version will come out at a later time.

A form, provided on the MOLSA website, has areas to be filled in by the employee. Once the information about date of starting service, date of ending service, basic salary, number of payable days per year (not less than three-weeks as per law) is filled in, the final amount will be calculated.

The new service is expected to ensure greater transparency and make foreign workers more aware of their rights, said MOLSA.

The law states that “In addition to any sums to which the worker is entitled to upon the expiry of his service, the employer shall pay the end of service gratuity to the worker who has completed employment of one year or more. This gratuity shall be agreed upon by the two parties, provided that it is not less than a three-week wage for every year of employment. The worker shall be entitled to gratuity for the fractions of the year in proportion to the duration of employment."

The last basic salary will be the base for calculation of gratuity.

The calculations can be made by visiting THIS LINK.

What about bonus. Some compnies declear bonus in January. As per standard definition of bonus, it is for the performance for the previous year.

If the bonus decleared in Jan, will the employee left in december has chance to get it?
