Primary Health Care Corporation urges people to make use of appointment system
A visit to the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) can be a frustrating experience for many. More often than not, it will be overflowing with people in search of affordable healthcare provided by the state.
The PHCC, in an attempt to better manage the rush, is urging people to make full use of its appointment system, reported Gulf Times.
PHCC representatives said the booking an appointment prior to visiting the health centre would ensure people did not have to wait long to be seen by a doctor.
Patients who wish to seek an appointment with the doctor can call 107 and get the booking done, according to The Peninsula.
“We urge patients to support our efforts by making sure they schedule appointments and arrive half an hour prior to appointment as this will benefit everyone. Unused appointments hinder patients from getting to see their physician in a timely manner,” said PHCC’s Executive Director of Clinical Affairs Dr Hanan Al Mujalli.
The appointment systems come equipped with automated text message reminders, sent out to patients and booked individuals on a specific date prior to their scheduled appointment.
This reduces the number of missed appointments and allows patients to better manage their time.
By this initiative, the PHCC is aiming to cut the number of missed appointments, ensure appropriate care to other patients and create a more efficient service for visitors.
It is understood that the PHCC has unified ‘Hayak 107’ for all health centres making it easy for visitors to receive information and schedule appointments. The service is available in five languages.
‘Hayak 107’ was initially launched in five health centres in June, 2014, and was expanded to all health centres. Last year, it was reported that an average of 68,000 monthly calls were made to the call centre.
