Qatar Airways steward dies in hit-and-run accident in Bali
A 25-year-old Qatar Airways steward, Mohamed Aziz Farhat, who was on holiday in Bali, was killed in a hit-and-run accident, reported balidiscovery.com.
The body of the Tunisian man, who had been reported as missing since October 18, was found inside the Sanglah Hospital morgue 17 days later. His body had remained unidentified and unclaimed.
The website said that Farhat was hit by a laundry truck a few hours after checking into Hotel Puri Ramain Kuta. The truck, which was reportedly going at 70km per hour, dragged him down the road for some distance. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead upon arrival.
Police finally managed to identify the man after hotel employees reported that a guest had failed to return to his rooms and calls from Qatar Airways when the man failed to return to work after his brief holiday.
The truck driver, Yan Alexander Dasiskus Balbesi, is in custody. He has admitted to fleeing the scene and now faces criminal charges punishable by up to five years in prison.
Our sincere condolences to the family of the bereaved.
