Qatar population rises by 1% and touches 2,637,000
There have been some discussions doing the rounds that the financial crunch has forced people to leave Qatar en masse.
However, going by population figures issued by the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS), nothing could be farther from the truth.
Keeping up with the trend since 2001, Qatar’s population grew by 1% (26,000 people) in November. While figures released by the ministry on October 31 put the population at 2,611,000, it has risen to 2,637,000 now, reported Gulf Times.
MDPS said that Qatar’s population increase this year was 7.1%, which is higher than figures of the corresponding figures last year.
Traditionally, Qatar’s population goes up from October to May and falls between June and August (when expatriates travel for holidays).
It is expected that Qatar’s population figures will touch it’s highest-ever — 2.7m — by February, 2017.
Hope one day somebody counts the lazy ones who come to office to sleep only ...............
So what exactly is the reason ?
Tourism ?
Overstayers ?
More workers ?
