Qatar’s flying cows have started duty, and now you can enjoy the milk!
Qatar has resorted to beating the illegal blockade imposed by neighbouring countries in quite unique ways.
As a means of improving food security and self sufficiency, Qatari company Baladna announced plans to fly in cows from different parts of the world to the country.
A lot of interest was also generated when the company kept its word and the first batch of cows finally landed in the country.
And now, Baladna has announced that they have started marketing milk from the cows that were brought in from Australia and the US, according to Gulf Times.
“Pure milk from the newly-arrived cows has been available at all major retail outlets for almost a week. It is available in leading hypermarkets across the country and priced initially at QR10 per litre,” Mohamed Alkhani, accounts manager, Baladna, told Gulf Times.
“We expect to reduce the price to around QR7 per litre when we start large-scale production. We’ve got about 2,500 cows so far. Full scale production will start once the rest of the cows are brought to the farm very soon,” he explained.
Three cheers to unique, out-of-the-box thinking!
