Just when one thought winter was coming to an end, there is news that it isn’t so. The Qatar Met Department has warned that temperatures are expected to significantly drop in the country next week, according to Gulf Times.

The mercury level may drop to 11C in Doha and below 5C in the southern parts of the country during this period, according to the weather office.

Weather charts indicate that the country will be hit by the Northwesterly fresh to strong wind from tomorrow until Monday (January 29) due to the extension of a Siberian high pressure system, reported The Peninsula.

Wind speeds are expected to range between 15 to 25 knots with gusts reaching 35Kt especially on Sunday causing blowing dust and visibility reduction below 2km in some areas.

Sea is expected to be rough where maximum wave height may reach 12ft. Qatar Meteorology Department urged all residents to be cautious and avoid going to sea.

well no one thought winter was winding down, It's Jan still and there's always one final cold blast before it subsides; but leave that be; tell us about the rain my friend; we wait eagerly for news of rain; tell us, is there to be any rain at all, for us gold tanned sun kissed desert dwellers this season? :-)
