Temperatures to dip below 10°C today, sale of winter items shoot up
It’s December and winter has officially started.
The temperature in some of Qatar’s southern-most areas is expected to dip below 10°C today and tomorrow, The Peninsula quoted the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) as saying.
It has also warned people of reduced visibility, strong winds and exceptionally choppy seas. In most places, the maximum temperature will be 21 and 22°C.
Meanwhile, in anticipation of a tough winter ahead, the sale of winter clothes and heaters have started picking up around the country, according to Gulf Times.
“We expect the demand to go up further once the temperature starts to drop below 15-16C, probably next week onwards. For now, many people seem particularly interested in winter clothes,” an employee of a hypermarket told the newspaper.
Halogen heaters and oil-filled radiators have also seen an increase in demand.
People have also started investing more on outdoor sports items like sports jackets, shoes and other clothes and equipment for outdoor activities. Football sales have also gone up.
