Three seperate markets for fish, poultry and meat, set to open this year
Qatari residents will soon have to start travelling to different parts of the country in order to be able to purchase fish, poultry and fresh fruits/vegetables.
While the Central Fish Market is expected to open by the end of March in Umm Salal, the Al Wakra Central Market for meat and Al Sayliyah Central Market for fruits and vegetables will open only in the second and third quarters respectively, reported Qatar Tribune.
Unlike the old market near Salwa Road, the new ones will be designed to have more stalls and also boast of environment friendly and efficient waste recycling equipment.
The fish market in Umm Salal will house 105 fish stalls, a fish and seafood restaurant, a cafeteria, a nursery, four shops for wholesale vegetables and fruits and two shops for retail sale of vegetables and fruits.
It is understood that lower rents of the new stalls will help both merchants and customers, in the form of lower rents and fish prices.
Lots were drawn for the stalls at the Umm Salal facility and tenants are expected to move their shops within a month.
it would have been easier if the Central fruits and veg. Market was spread out in convenient locations of the country, rather than one single spot in the country.
Deja Vu !!
