WATCH: Qatar to start COVID-19 vaccination campaign from Wednesday, December 23
In a press conference held on December 21, a senior official said that the first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine will arrive at Hamad International Airport tonight, Monday, December 21, and the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Qatar will start from Wednesday, December 23.
The press conference was attended by Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-1, Dr. Hamad Eid Al Romaihi, Co-Chair for the National Pandemic Preparedness Committee and Director of Health Protection and Communicable Diseases at MoPH, and Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, Managing Director of Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).
The vaccines will be available at seven primary health centers for those who meet the initial priority criteria; Al Wajba Health Center, Leabaib Health Center, Al Ruwais Health Center, Umm Salal Health Center, Rawdat Al Khail Health Center, Al Thumama Health Center, Muaither Health Center.

The first phase of vaccination is from December 23, 2020, to January 31, 2021, and the priority will be given to people over 70 years old, adults in chronic care, and home care facilities, healthcare personnel most at risk of infection, and people over 16 years of age with severe chronic diseases.
Selected patients will be contacted via phone call or text message and they will be getting the invitation to attend an appointment at one of the seven designated health centers in Qatar.
Dr. Hamad Al-Rumaihi said during the press conference that in 2021, Qatar will have enough vaccines to vaccinate everyone in the country.
