Delay in communicating the interview result.

Hi Guys,

I had been to an interview in Doha Bank for Sale and Marketing which comes under the retail banking domain. I had the interview on the 31/05/12 . They told me it will take 15-30 days to let me know abt the result. But unfortunately i havent got any reply from them until today which is the 2nd of July. But i had a friend working there who told me its been signed and forwarded from the HR to the MDs office for approval. He also told me the MD is business tour, but he wasn't able to collect more info abt this. I am just confused about the whole thing. I am actually getting some new offers after this, but the money offered was not good enough as this. So i am really confused weather i want to wait for this or go ahead for another one. Is this lag a common HR practice in Qatar? I am actually new here, so dont know much about the HR practices here.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanx

Mate, Yea i got roughly few details, thats it. I was curious anybody had experiences like this any time? In my 'own judgment ' the interview was quite positive and they were looking for somebody like me who has same experience. As QS said i will try to get in touch wth HR and follow up wth them as the manager replied me saying he is also waiting for a reply while i did the follow up wth him.

This is not just in Qatar, many countries around the world take their own sweet time responding. Since you are not bound at the moment, keep looking for other openings as well

since you have not receive any reply regarding your application, it means you are not hired. you did not achieve their expectations, because if they really want to hire you, by this time, you have already started to work with them. its better to apply another company.

The first round interview was done by the department manager and then he forwarded my file to HR. The Second round was Conducted in the Bank HR where the Manager and other two Hr personnel were present. For the second round, the same manager did the interview, and other two just asked why i left the previous job and visa status etc. They barely spoke to me apart from that. But the Department Manager gave me his card while i went of the first round, and i did a follow up wth him last week, but he replied me back saying he hasn't got any reply from HR and he is also waiting for it.

You said, you dont know much about the HR practices HERE. It looks like you don't know about the HR practices anywhere. It seems you don't know that to follow up on your interview is a good professional way to approach this matter. First, the interviewer has to give you a business card. If he/she isn't professional enough to do so, you are the one who has to ask for the business card. And then to send an email thanking for their time, highlighting again your strength and asking for the result. Both your interviewer and yourself displayed quite unprofessional way of dealing with each other.

call their HR dept and ask them whats the update regarding ur interview....this is the best approach...i guess..rather than asking friend ....then u will be clear , abt ur future job offers...

Sincere advise, do not rely on what others say, be practical, go the concerned manager and explain your situation whether or not to wait for their appt orders.

Then its upto you to decide whether this or that, do not complicate your precious time & days here. Best of luck.
