I am a new graduate in mechanical engineering (energy engineering) with 67% Major GPA...I have six years of part-time experience in three jobs (technical support, plant manager and sales engineer)...my computer skills are excellent (AutoCAD Revit MEP Suite 2010) and (MS Office Professional 2007) and (MS Office Project 2007)...I know Armenian, Arabic, and English very well and my French is good (not as good as my English but I can communicate perfectly)...do I have the qualifications to find a job in Qatar..and if yes, where do I have to start?...thx for your precious time

Seriously...Tell you what....IT REALLY IS A DREAM COME TRUE JOB. I mean all of the people working there are relaxed, plus you get everything you want, you can afford everything and live with comfort and very high living standards, ok maybe you can't afford a rolls royce but whatever.

Just google them and enter their websites, all is there, fill in the e-forms and inshallah you will get the job. It is basic stuff, and you get paid more than 100+ per hour on over-time ;)

Heya, you could always try QatarGas or RasGas, they take new trainees with full salary, and yes, the salary completely depends which position you will get. If you get a post like an Engineer, you'd be expecting

-25k Salary

-Free Accomodation worth upto 14k if outside, or a beautiful community to reside in

-Free electrical and telephony bills

-Free Water supply etc.

-Free Annual leave of upto price worth of 4 Adults and 2 Children to your homecountry, even if you don't go, you get the cash ;)

-Free membership to 3 high standard clubs, with restaurent and everything you expect,

-and 25k cash so that you can settle your house, you know the furniture, tvs etc.

-oh yea, and also free Split ACs around the house, microwaves, ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, fridge, and a freezer. This all gets replaced every 5 years.

So its a bonus. Just visit Qatargas/Rasgas's website and upload CVs, you have to be patient. And it is hard if you are applying from Qatar, you need a NOC.

Probably it will take longer this time as most of the big project in Qatar ends this year like Qatargas 2. so you really need to have lots of patience. but there are also new Big projects like pearl and they have a continues hiring im just not sure as to what field they are bringing on board at this time of the year.

wish you good luck.

Most professional job searches take at least six months (if you are lucky and in demand) to a year or more. If you want to flip burgers at McDonald's it takes only a couple weeks. It's a long process from submitting a resume to waiting for an interview to your employer slogging through the candidates, coming up with a short list, interviewing again, getting the committee together and making a final decision. Then waiting while someone goes on vacation, then getting approval from the finance department and HR then another wait for the contract to be drawn up. THEN an offer might be made! And, ooops, I've just described the process in the US, better double or triple it for the Gulf!

Only big companies stay afloat but slowing down on recruitments this time around. Try applying some adverts. which are advertised on major news papers.

Are you serious Mandi? Could it be that i have to wait for a year or two? Is that only the situation with qatar? Or maybe all other gulf countries? I know about the recession but as far as i know qatar is the best place now and all other gulf countries are in worse situations... Any help will be appreciated...thx

I have been uploading since 2 weeks and not getting a single reply. Are the conditions of the job market that hard or i just have to be more patient?

It's best if you apply from your home country and are relocated to Qatar.

what about the Arabic language?...do you have any ideas about my French language?...what is the base salary (approximately) that I must accept in order to make it in Qatar?...thx

By anonymous• 6 Aug 2009 15:22

Its not in the length of the CV, its in the content. and how signifaicant the content to the jobe you are applying for.

3 pages is fine for someone like me with over 25 years relevent experience, but anything beyound the second page will generally not be read.

Keep it concise, and just stick to facts and key words. If an employer wants to know more he can always ask at the interview stage.

remember, a CV is just a door opener. Once through the door you must then sell yourself.

Do I have to mention my salary expectation in my CV?...what is the maximum length of the CV..cuz as I know it musn't exceed two pages...I'v excluded too many information from it in order to be brief and concise. I have other activites that might be of help...but I just included the key information and activities cuz I have a career record of three jobs, 2 training certificates from international companies (I did't mention other certificate from less known organizations in order to shorten my CV) and I have a wide base of computer skills and languages...that's too much information that can't be just included in two pages...but if you ask me...I don't like a CV to be more than two pages...it's not that professional..do I have to consider making it three pages?...thank you people and especially baldrick2dogs for your help..:)

A similar question was asked the other day.

Nobody said it would be easy, in fact there are many experience and qualified people who find it difficult to get a job here, but you are yound and perseverance may be on your side.

When you write your CV, highlight your skills and experience, and include any positive extra curricluar activities you do to fill it out.

Also, offer to work for less in order to:

a) beat other applicants and

b) gain experience

But as a new graduate..wouldn't it be hard to find a job?...does my part-time experience of 6+ years pay?

#1. Figure out what you want to do.

#2. Look for those positions on the web (Monster, Bayt etc)

#3. Apply.
